UTAHwesome

We've been home for a week and I'm finally getting through the gobs of pictures we took on our vacation. Good thing going through gobs of pictures is one of my favorite things to do!

First stop: Utah! Our 2.5 weeks there were packed with some serious adventure, including 4 days where all 25 Dixons-- yes, my parents & their offspring now add up to 25-- were all together. So, here are 18 posts in one. Hold on to your floppy hats!

The Great Outdoors
Several things made this the anti-NYC trip, one of them being time spent literally in the mountains. It always sounds so impressive when people say they go hiking, and, ahem, we did happen to go on a little hike near Pleasant Grove. Ah, that was fun to say. The best part was that it was only about a mile on a slight incline and we were rewarded with this pretty little waterfall. Perfect!

We also had a campfire dinner and s'mores in American Fork Canyon. This is where I learned that keeping babies up past their bedtime really isn't the end of the world.

Cheers to the Grad!
We got to spend a little time with our Lee Fam as we celebrated Talmage's graduation with his Masters in Engineering from BYU. So proud of you, Tal! Bethany & Isaac had a blast meeting some of their Lee cousins for the first time.

New Tricks
The little girl perfected her crawl and learned to pull herself up to standing on just about anything. The little boy perfected his left arm/right toe army crawl and learned to go from sitting to crawling (by just falling over). Having babies that stay where you put them was nice while it lasted, sigh...

Obviously this isn't Isaac's army crawl-- I just liked this picture :)

In dental news, Isaac cut his top FOUR TEETH, all at once! Four teeth, ALL AT ONCE!! Poor kid.

[This is me keeping my promise-- no more tooth pics]

So, you'll just have to believe me on this one. But as a hint, here's the new word Jared taught me: diastema. I happen to know a guy that can fix it, but until then it's going to be pretty stinkin' cute.

Obligatory Stops
That's right, Cafe Rio. Twice. Barbacoa taco salad. Twice. Be jealous, non Utahns!

In-N-Out, in Provo? (See Y mountain to the left?) What the what?! Don't worry, we drove right past and waited to get our #2s animal style in Cali. (Good thing we were headed to CA in a couple days anyway, otherwise we would not have pretended to be too cool.)

More Good Stuff
Bethany earned the nickname "Kewpie doll" from Papa & Mimi. See why? I'm sure you do, but I'll tell you anyway: it's that cute little straight-mouth smile B started doing at about 6 months, those big round eyes, and the way she flares out her hands when she does the pose. (P.S. this was confirmed when our friend Reagan randomly called her a Kewpie doll, too! It must be true.) My parents still have a Kewpie doll from back when we were kids. How did I not get a picture of my real life Kewpie playing with it?

We celebrated Dad & Sienna's birthdays with a table for 25. (I didn't want to take away from the real birthdays, but I secretly also celebrated my twinfants turning 7 months!) It's impossible to not have fun in a party hat.

I'm still taller than my 14 year-old nephew. You can call him Shorty.

It really was so nice to be in beautiful Utah with our Dixon and Lee families. Thanks everyone-- especially Mom, Dad, Dan & Holly-- for hosting us and making our stay so cozy and fun!

Home!

After almost a month in Utah and California, I must say it is nice to be home. We had SUCH a great visit, though! So worth the time away. Details may have to come later-- I'm going to climb into my very own bed and let the Westside Highway sing me to sleep. Ahhh home.

what happens at Grandma's...

...you meet your cousins, aunts & uncles for the first time...

...you get a tour of Papa's garden...

...you go swimming...

...and you find new places for trouble...

But that's okay. It is Grandma's.
