no shirt, no shoes, service

So, we think we're pretty smart now that we're a whole half year in as parents. A lesson learned about feeding... it's best done when babies are nearly nekkid.

Peas!

Rice!

Carrots!

the sprint and the sneak

Slow and steady wins the race! Watch the twins in action on YouTube or facebook. It will make you smile, promise. :)

PS Why am I having such a hard time posting videos to Blogger? I'm trying to upload with QuickTime but it just says "uploading" forever. Someone HELP!! Send me an e-mail!

Some cute (but unrelated) pictures for your trouble...

fireworks I can blog about

July 4th is my favorite holiday. Love the warm summer nights, love the fireworks, and oh, love appreciating our country. Jared has learned from experience that I'm a sad, sad girl if I don't get a good fireworks show (being from DC has spoiled me), however, this year I was perfectly happy to stay home. The heat and the babies were two good reasons, but what really sealed the deal was being able to see Macy's amazing fireworks show from our bed.

So, Jared's parents pulled up two chairs to the window, Jared & I lounged behind them on the bed, and the kids slept through the whole thing in their cribs. Pure magic.

And since someone had to say it, here's a direct quote from my mother: "I'm glad you still experience fireworks in bed."

Oh, Mom.

Right now: a dose of arts & culture

Busy day! Bethany & Isaac took Gma & Gpa to the MoMA for some modern art appreciation, and then to the chicken & rice cart on 53rd/6th for some yummy Halal food, where Grandma got interviewed by an Arabic news channel. Stroller naps are really the only way to wrap up a day like that.

slow down, you're moving too fast

The twins are 6 months old today!!

I always rolled my eyes on the inside a little bit when moms cried about their babies growing up, when they're totally still babies. And now I can't believe how fast these two are learning to be more like real yoomans (how you say "humans" if you're an old school New Yorker). Real yooman beans (how you say "human beings" if you're Jared & me).

Here's a bit of what the munchkins have been up to lately. A bit of a six-month round-up, although most or maybe all of this is from just the last week...

* Eating "solid" foods. Their repertoire now includes rice cereal and peas. It's funny to see big girl lean eagerly into every bite while little man backs away from the spoon. He's becoming more interested, though.

* Getting mobile. They roll and scoot everywhere, and are threatening to crawl-- Pink will rock on her hands and knees, and Blue does this cute little tripod action balancing on his face.
Pink, wearing blue

* Striking a pose. Bethany has this adorable little side stance. She'll stop what she's doing, pose for a good few seconds or minutes, and then get back to business.

* Tasting our toes. I've been waiting for them to do this since they were born. I think it's just about the cutest thing ever that babies ever do ever.

* Sitting up. Reading. Just general big kid stuff.

* Swimming, swimming. Jared & I took the kids to the pool last Wed in celebration of our anniversary (June 30th, wahoo!). We started this family 9 years ago! It only took us 8 1/2 years to double it. :)
Glad we got this shot before leaving-- turns out this was a maximum security pool and you have to lock up everything but your towel, so no pool pics, boo. Oh, NYC.

* Loving bath time. I credit the Tummy Tub for why they went in the pool like it was no big deal. Here's Isaac in a shot from Grandma Lee's phone. So handsome!

* Loving Grandma & Grandpa Lee time. They're here visiting us all week, wee! We've had a blast running all over town.

* Getting EVEN CUTER.

Happy half birthday, babies!

river traffic

Okay, I know this officially makes me a total busy body, BUT...

A week or two ago I happened to see this scene passing by my window-- a gorgeous yacht and a hovering helicopter. Had to be someone famous, right?! Through the binocs (yes, we keep them by the window-- wouldn't you?) I could see a woman on the deck surrounded by a few men dressed in white. My first thought-- and Jared's-- was Beyonce and then for some reason Taylor Swift. Haha. But of course they'd more likely be yachting in the Caribbean rather than the Hudson. So... one of the Real Housewives of NJ?
