A recipe for 1 disastrous week:
Begin at 5 am Monday morning by finding a baby sitting in her crib, in her own vomit.
Gradually, over the next 7 days, add the following:
- 2 babies with stomach bugs
- 4 immunization shots for babies
- 1 doctor that warns you they may be irritable for the next 24-72 hours
- 2 babies* with colds
- 1 baby* with croup (I'm pretty sure)
- 1 husband out of town (again - 18 out of the last 34 days!)
- 10 days of forecasted rain
*Please re-use the same 2 babies; adding more babies is not recommended.
Take a deep breath.
Drink honey vanilla chamomile tea while you pound it out on your blog. Think about your oasis. Decide to paint your nails in the Jade is the New Black that your friend bought you, while you catch up on the last couple Thursday nights of TV. Thank the heavens for hulu.
Feel better already.
Do not repeat. Ever.
That is the worst recipe EVER! I'm so sorry. Send 'em done here and I'll add some chocolate and peanut butter to make it taste better.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your nails!
Terrible! I can't believe your dr gave them shots in their condition. It's weeks like that that make healthy, happy weeks so wonderful. Hope Jared is back and all is well.
ReplyDeleteTo go from the oasis post to this was heartbreaking! Jared is gone again?? I didn't know that. I am so sorry. For the babies, but more for you. Being a mom is a hard job. Just like the Mother's day card. lol PS: As Dr. Mom I prescribe online shopping- NOT window shopping. Retail therapy is the cure.
ReplyDeleteOH NO! Sending you lots of positive vibes... that is a really bad recipe. This will for sure earn you at least a months worth of perfect days and nights, right?
ReplyDeleteThat....um......well, I can't think of anything non-vulgar to say, and I'm really working on that. ;-) Brian isn't out of town, but he might as well be. Rough times. Can't wait for July to roll around. Sending super-human powers your way. And praying for some sunny days, eh? Feel free to cry and break things. It helps. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I may have 2.5 years on you in actual mothering years, but I got NOTHING on you in exhaustive, breaking-point mothering experiences. It's hard enough with dad out of town when things are good, and it's hard enough having sick babies...but together? I'm just glad you didn't jump out the window. And here, here to the retail therapy idea (for YOU this time. :))
ReplyDeleteIt seems like it HAS been a weird week, right? I was a pretty ornery cuss for a good part of it--but with no real reason. Bravo for surviving it all and with quite a bit of class, I might add...tea and primping. You are the best!
