everything Isaac

Let's talk about my little I guy.

Isaac = laughter. That's what the name means, and one of the reasons we liked it. We had no idea, 15+ months ago, how appropriate it would be for this funny boy.

Isaac is an artist. Give him a crayon and a piece of paper, and he will be entertained for a solid 10-12 minutes, or in 15-month-old time, forever.

Squinting, I think from all the camera flashes. Ha!
He should be used to it by now!

Isaac rolls with it. He hardly ever whines when big sis takes his stuff. He just moves on.

Isaac is one of the dudes. He loves hanging out with guys. He'll walk up to pretty much any guy and hold up his arms to be picked up. You get extra points if you wear some sort of ID badge. This makes the fellas down at the security desk an automatic favorite.

Isaac has no fear. There have been a few times recently that I've found him in precarious positions. A couple days ago, he wandered into the kitchen and I was only about 15 seconds behind. As I got closer to the kitchen I saw the light flicker. In that 15 seconds, he had climbed up onto a chair, then the table, and was reaching for the light switch! The light switch isn't even directly over the table, it's like a foot to the side, so we're all just lucky he didn't fall off.

Another time, I had left the room for a minute and came back to find Isaac on top of one of the dressers in the nursery, playing with the iPod speakers. Here were my reactions, in this order: (1) EEEK you're on the dresser!!, (2) How the heck did you get there?, (3) Hmm, I'm guessing you climbed up this chair that was right next to it. Note to self: no more chairs next to dressers. Or kitchen tables. (4) Oh, why guess how you got there when I can just follow this TRAIL OF BLOOD you left behind... Apparently he had cut his finger on the switch to the heater (which he knows is off-limits), and then went about his business of climbing on stuff.

Isaac wants to boogie, and will point to the iPod speakers when it's time.

Isaac loves to play with pots and spoons. Toy ones or real ones. He could just stir stir stir all day long. Or for like 9 minutes straight.

Isaac is figuring things out way too quickly.

Isaac says mama, dada, milk, more, light, banana, oo oo oo (like a monkey), all gone, no, and a whole bunch of stuff I can't understand but I'm sure is very important.

Isaac signs milk, more, eat, all done, help, hi, and bye. The wave goodbye usually happens right after the leaving person has left.

Isaac opens everything. With his teeth. Where we see lids, Isaac sees a challenge.

Isaac fits in small spaces.

Little man, we love you so much!

  4. Love this photo essay of your little man! So successfully you've captured his personality and his every-day ways. I love that I can click on a picture and really zoom in to see, for example, the bruise on his forehead from some previous high-wire act. My favorite photo of the set, quite naturally, is of a very studious, artistic Isaac being watched over by a thoroughly adoring Dad. Just looking at the love in Jared's eyes makes me want to laugh and cry with a joyful heart.

  5. I didn't know Isaac meant laughter. That's cool! I like the one where he is laying on the pillow coloring. That's cute. I have to say I have watched the video of him falling back into the blankets under the changing table just to hear his laugh.

  6. Which picture is my favorite? I can't even decide. The squinting? Isaac and Charlie? Diaper cream lid opening? Coloring? Isaac is so cool! And he has a crush on me so that makes him even cooler. :)

    Man, I love your kids!
